Over 81 per cent wheat area harvested: Government
The government on Sunday reported about 81 for each cent of wheat sown space has been harvested so much, whilst harvest of pulses and oilseeds has been finished amidst the COVID-19 pandemic condition.
Farmers are harvesting rabi (winter season) crops sown in the 2020-21 crop 12 months (July-June). Wheat is the primary rabi crop.
Releasing the most recent info, the Agriculture Ministry reported: “As a result of the proactive actions taken, harvesting of rabi crops is on agenda and timely procurement is also staying ensured for the profit of the farmers.” Amidst the present-day pandemic condition, farmers and agriculture labourers are perspiring and toiling against all adversities to make confident that food items reaches our houses, it reported.
“Their silent efforts, coupled with timely intervention by the Central and Point out Governments, have ensured that there is minimal or no disruption to harvesting pursuits,” it added.
In case of wheat, the ministry reported about 81.fifty five for each cent of the full sown space of 315.80 lakh hectare has been harvested in the country.
About ninety nine for each cent wheat harvesting finished in Rajasthan, ninety six for each cent in Madhya Pradesh, 80 for each cent in Uttar Pradesh, sixty five for each cent in Haryana and sixty for each cent in Punjab, it reported.
“Harvesting is at its peak in Haryana, Punjab and UP and is very likely to be finished by the conclude of April 2021,” it added.
In case of pulses which ended up sown in 158.10 lakh hectare, harvesting has been finished for gram, lentil, urad, moong and field peas.
For sugarcane, out of the full sown space of 48.52 lakh hectare, harvesting has been finished in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Telangana.
Up to 98 for each cent harvesting has been finished in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
Whilst in Uttar Pradesh, eighty four for each cent has been finished and this will continue on until mid-May 2021.
In case of rice sown in forty five.32 lakh hectare in the rabi time, harvesting has been finished in 18.seventy three lakh hectare so much. Rabi rice harvesting is virtually full in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Amongst the oilseed crops, harvesting of rapeseed mustard has been finished 100 for each cent in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Assam.
It is virtually full in Haryana (ninety nine.95 for each cent) and for Punjab, about seventy seven for each cent has been harvested. Above 62 for each cent groundnut grown in 7.34 lakh hectare has been harvested so much.
