No tuition fee hike in IITs, IIITs for academic year 2020-21: HRD minister

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Data Technology (IIITs) will not maximize the tuition cost for any study course for the educational yr 2020-21, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” said here on Sunday.

“Right after consultation with the chairman of the Standing Committee of the IIT Council and administrators of IITs, it has been decided that these institutes will not maximize the tuition cost for the educational yr 2020-21 for any study course,” the minister said.

“In case of the IIITs, it has been decided that for people which are centrally-funded, the conventional 10-for each cent hike in the tuition cost for undergraduate programmes will not be implemented this yr. I have also asked for them not to maximize the cost for other courses.

“On comparable traces, I have asked for the IIITs run in the general public-non-public partnership mode not to maximize the tuition cost for the coming educational yr for any of their courses,” he extra.
