‘Insulted’ Mamata Banerjee refuses to speak at Netaji event in Kolkata
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not provide her speech “in protest” at an event at Victoria Memorial listed here to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose just after ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogans were being elevated when she was invited to communicate.
She explained “federal government programme should really have some dignity” and it “is not honest to insult somebody whom you have invited”.
The event was presided in excess of by Key Minister Narendra Modi.
In her brief remarks, a visibly upset Mamata Banerjee explained it was a federal government programme and not that of a political party.
The Trinamool Congress leader also explained that she was grateful to the Key Minister and Cultural Ministry for organising the event at Kolkata.
“I believe the federal government programme should really have some dignity. This is a federal government programme and not a political party’s programme. I am grateful to the Key Minister, Society Ministry for arranging an event in Kolkata. But this is not honest to insult somebody whom you have invited. In protest, I am not heading to communicate nearly anything. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla,” she explained.
Netaji’s birth anniversary is being noticed as Parakram Diwas in the state.
