In Myanmar, Landslide at Jade Mine Kills More Than 160 People

YANGON, Myanmar—At minimum 162 men and women have been found dead immediately after weighty rains induced a landslide at a jade mine in northern Myanmar, the deadliest incident that the mostly unregulated business has observed in yrs.

Myanmar is the world’s premier producer of jade, a cherished green gemstone mined practically solely for export to neighboring China.
