Cybersecurity Insurer Chubb Hit With Possible Ransomware Attack
Cybersecurity insurance policies service provider Chubb has been investigating a data breach that gave hackers unauthorized entry to information and facts belonging to a 3rd party.
A company spokesperson verified the “security incident” but reported there was no proof Chubb’s individual network was influenced and it remained “fully operational.”
The breach was initially claimed by Tech Crunch.
Brett Callow, an analyst at the security company Emsisoft, reported the hack was carried out by the ransomware team Maze that steals data from networks and retains it hostage when extorting providers for payment.
According to Callow, the hackers declared on their site that they had stolen Chubb data previously this thirty day period and provided the names and email addresses of main executive officer Evan Greenberg and other senior executives.
The hackers had not nevertheless revealed the stolen information.
In late December, the FBI issued a warning to U.S. providers around Maze ransomware, declaring the hackers had carried out a collection of the latest attacks, often pretending to be govt agencies.
