Germany Moves to Clean Up Meat Industry Amid Coronavirus Surge

BERLIN—The German federal government on Wednesday moved to curb a string of Covid-19 outbreaks in slaughterhouses and meatpacking plants, including imposing a ban on subcontracting, harder cleanliness inspection regimes and increased fines for breaching these regulations.

The monthly bill was flanked by other coronavirus steps, between them measures that would shield some professional medical and pharmaceutical organizations from international takeovers.
